Designing a Digital Pass for Offline Exhibition Experiences: Arte Museum
작성일
2025.05.08Arte Museum is an immersive media art exhibition space in Korea created by d’strict, a world-class digital design company. Starting from Jeju Island, d’strict has expanded Arte Museum exhibitions to Busan, Gangneung, and Yeosu, welcoming more than 8.5 million visitors worldwide.
Arte Museum Busan introduced a blockchain-based PASS system for exhibition entry through a collaboration with Upbit NFT and Lambda256’s digital pass solution. Visitors were able to use the PASS for admission and acquire NFTs while experiencing the exhibition. In this project, NFTs were not only used to spark interest in collecting, but also served as a means to enhance the entire visitor journey—from entry to exhibition viewing—making it a representative example of how NFTs can amplify digital exhibition experiences for a broad audience.
A Digital Pass Designed for Exhibition Operations
Arte Museum’s digital pass was designed as more than a simple entry credential. It was structured to support the overall exhibition experience, allowing visitors to verify entry rights while seamlessly continuing digital interactions connected to the exhibition brand. The system was designed to be intuitive and accessible, requiring no complex technical understanding, making it well suited for a large-scale, public exhibition environment.
Lambda256 designed the issuance, management, and user experience of the digital pass by taking into account Arte Museum’s operational workflows and visitor movement patterns. Blockchain technology was intentionally kept out of the foreground, allowing visitors to experience the digital pass naturally within the existing exhibition flow.

How It Works: Combining ESG Initiatives with Digital Passes
Dunamu, the operator of the Upbit NFT marketplace, has been running the Seed Vault NFT collection project to promote awareness around biodiversity conservation. As part of this initiative, Dunamu collaborated with Arte Museum—which operates exhibitions themed around natural elements such as sand, waves, and waterfalls—to launch the SEED exhibition zone.

Visitors were able to receive a free PASS for Arte Museum via an airdrop through the Upbit NFT app. The PASS was securely stored within the app, and upon arrival at the exhibition, visitors could activate the PASS to generate a dynamic QR code, allowing staff to verify authenticity and prevent forgery. This entire process was powered by Lambda256’s digital pass solution.

After entry, Lambda256’s digital pass administration system enabled the distribution of digital collectible NFTs to both existing Seed Vault NFT holders and on-site visitors. Participants could receive NFTs automatically by scanning QR codes placed throughout the exhibition space and event areas, making the experience seamless and interactive.
The Significance of Digital Asset Use in Cultural Spaces
The Arte Museum case demonstrates how digital asset technology can go beyond simple collectibles and integrate directly into real-world, offline venue operations. In experience-driven industries such as exhibitions and cultural spaces, digital assets offer tangible value by supporting entry management, operational efficiency, and brand experience expansion.
Rather than emphasizing new technology itself, this project focused on solving fundamental challenges related to exhibition operations and visitor experience. Technology functioned as an enabler, allowing visitors to enjoy a natural and immersive exhibition journey without friction.
Lambda256 will continue to deliver enterprise-grade digital experience design across a wide range of industries, including exhibitions, culture, and entertainment, ensuring that digital assets and blockchain technologies can be applied reliably in real-world service environments.
